L. Heisinger & Sohn (fl. 1840-1937) Nuremberg.
The company's history starts in 1840 with the founding of a workshop by Zirkelschmiedmeister Cassian Schäfer (*1815;†1866), at Peter Vischergasse L.763 in Nuremberg. Schäfer's apprentice Ludwig Heisinger (*1835;†1916) succeeded him in 1864. Ludwig's son Oskar (*1863;†1931) was made partner in 1893, after which the company is named L. Heisinger & Sohn [1]. In 1871 the company moved from the Peter Vischerstrasse to Gostenhofer Schulgasse 16 [12]. The company exhibited at the Philadelphia World's Fair in 1876 [14]. Oskar Heisinger became sole proprietor in 1903 [13] and his son-in-law Herbert Hülsewig (marriage with Jenny Heisinger in 1919) became partner in 1920. In 1905 the company's address changed to Hochstrasse 25. In 1923 Reißzeugfabrik Heisinger & Sohn was converted into an Aktiengesellschaft. Around 1925 the company had a workforce of 53 [1]. Heisinger & Sohn was active until 1937 [4].
