Gebroeders Caminada (fl. 1856-1920), Rotterdam.
Instrument maker Carolus Anthonij Caminada (*1763;†1828) Barometer maker who in 1788 moved from Milan to Delft, where he married Gerritje Eijkhoorn. Caminada made and sold barometers and drafting compasses. He lived and worked, first on the Marktveld and later at the Koornmarkt, in a house called 'De Vliegenkast'. His workshop was continued by his three sons Gerardus Petrus (1796-1833), Jacobus (1798-1832) and Joannes (Jan) Caminada (1803-1876).
Around 1842 Joannes became independent. At that time he received many commissions from A. Lipkens, who in 1843 was appointed director of the Royal Academy in Delft. Around the middle of the 19th century his instruments were on view at various exhibitions. The company of Joannes Caminada was dissolved in 1878.

Two other sons, Pieter Caminada (*1837;†1922) and Hendricus Johannes Caminada (*1842;†1882), established Gebr. P. & H. Caminada in The Hague in 1867.
Two drawing sets by Gebr. Caminada Rotterdam.
Fig. 1 and 2. The straight pencil-insert in this drawing set by Gebr. Caminada, indicates that it was made after 1905. There is an label on the underside of the case with the hand-written name Anna Stelwagen, possibly the original owner. A genealogical search for the name Anna Stelwagen (*1893-†1985) reveals that a person with this name was the daughter of J.H. Stelwagen, the contractor that built Het Witte Huis (White House) in Rotterdam in 1897.
